I just saw the tanning mom interview and it got me thinking. How can I help my friends and family against the suns harmful rays? Well, just as I as thinking this, I got a text from my friend AJ Yager. (He’s a ginger) like many gingers when summer comes they are stocking up on sunblock, aloe Vera and a few large umbrellas to carry in the day light. Which I often mistake for vampires. These people must get laid a lot. lol. Just kidding Yager. Yager, is actually paddle boarding 21 miles across the river in Austin TX, in the battle against cancer. You can support him here. <—

Well, as many of you Fitlifer’s know I’m all about natural dietary ways to protect you. Why put lotion and ointments on your body when they are laced with 280 chemicals. Instead, you can get certain nutrients in your diet that will assist you in your protection.

If my ginger friend AJ has questions, I’m sure there are a lot of you reading this that would love to know. Further more… if you are reading this you are probably a person that really cares for their family and friends and only want the best for them. You don’t want to end up like the tanning mom.  Isn’t that crazy.

When you are trying to solve a complex problem you can often quite your mind and look to nature for the answer. The answer is rarely if ever found in the contemplation of covering something up (sun block)… the truth is always found from within.

Get Some Antaxanthin

Observe the pink flamingo. It spends most if not all of it’s time in some of the most tropical places on the planet. It’s diet consists of blue-green and red algae, diatoms.  The super-antioxidant astaxanthin is found in algae, the organisms that eat it, and the organisms that eat those organisms.  It has been getting some attention as an “internal sunscreen.” Does it stack up? Well, here’s a study on isolated human skin cells, in which astaxanthin definitely protects against UVA damage. Slow motion photography shows that this awesome bird filters water through their bill 20 times in 1 second to get the food. (I thought using my juicer was a efficient)

Tomato or Tomaato

Lycopene, is a famous caroteniod found in tomatoes, has been shown to protect humans against sun damage. Remember, cooked tomatoes actually gives you more of the goods then raw or juiced tomatoes.

Vitamin D

One of my favorite vitamins has shown that supplementing it increases tolerance and protection against the sun. This recent study seems to confirm that vitamin D is awesome. It’s funny how nature works. Getting sun, can actually protect you against it.

Sun Block

Get Your Long-Chain Omega-3s and Ditch the Omega-6s

Become friends with my buddy Mr. Walnut and Ms. Flax seed. They have a crush on each-other but Ms. Flax seed is nervous to bring Mr. Walnut into the family. Father Flax has a “little seedling mentality.” Getting past the hesitancy of the relationship these two are very high in Omega 3’s.

It’s Tea Time

Green tea has a ton of antioxidants. If you observe some of the oldest cultures on earth they love their tea. It’s a smart move. How it works isn’t fully understood but we do know that the polyphenols inhibit the development of skin tumors by controlling inflammation and preventing DNA damage. Tropical green tea extracts applied to the skin.

Hopefully you found these ninja tricks helpful. Next time you are in the sun or a tanning bed, you can put down the umbrella and worry less about getting burnt. :)

Feel free to share this post with your friends and family to help protect them as well.

We’re in this together,

Insanity – Beach Workout

Insanity – Beach Workout

Drew Canole

Drew is on the beach visualizing the workout before it starts. This is important to do. When we see the workout in our mind first it allows us to have more focus and control when going through it. Try it, and report back to us… let us know how it works or if you are already doing it… :)

Tiffany Morin And Crystal Canez - Fitlife.tv

Part of the ab workout you will see when you watch the video. You can either do it with your arms upright like this, I would suggest holding a plank position with your elbows on the ground though.

Side Shuffle Push Ups

Side Shuffle Push ups will get your heart rate jacked! For added intensity add a box jump in between. Only the leapers survive.

Here is the workout:

3 rounds of:
* 1 200 meter sprints
*20 mountain climbers
*20 leap frogs
*20 jump lunges
*10  shuffle push-ups
*20 Pistol Squats
*Bounding Lunges
*20 ice skaters

Conclude workout a core workout:
*Get a partner
*remain in plank position
* have your partner do 10 push-ups off you and switch
*Make sure you have the same body weight and size as your partner to get maximum results.

Also, for added core add some Spiderman Push Ups…

Another metabolic exercise to get the heart rate up. These “Bounding Lunges” will do the trick.

“How to survive that holiday ham and not make those buns look like spam”

“How to survive that holiday ham and not make those buns look like spam”

As the majority of us know only too well, any attempt at healthy eating goes sailing out of the window during the holiday season. We tend to forget about our health and diet, and instead, take the opportunity to over-indulge in every way possible. According to recent weight watchers report, the average American gains 7-10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. This is through pure over –indulgence and excuses.

Food and festivity will always be a major part of the holiday season – and there is certainly nothing wrong in that. However, the holiday season is also a stressful time for many of us, and we need plenty of energy and stamina to cope with it. It is therefore essential that we eat the right type of food with the necessary nutrients to give us energy and reduce stress levels. This is not to say that we shouldn’t allow ourselves to indulge a little, but we should eat in moderation and maintain a varied diet.

According to Jeffrey Rubin, M.D at the University of Arizona’s College of medicine, states: The main rule is to remember moderation. Try to balance these items with regular servings of fruit and vegetables. If we allow ourselves to lose control completely over the holiday season, there is a high risk that we will continue to eat unhealthily long after the holiday season has gone.

Falling into the trap of unhealthy eating is a hard habit to break. Despite millions of New Year’s resolutions that are made each year regarding our diets, many people never get around to breaking the habit at all. In fact, researchers at Washington University have reported that only 22% of New Year’s diet resolutions make it to February.

Wanna learn how to survive the holidays with out looking like scrooge around food? Being health-conscious doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t enjoy the holiday season and have a little bit of what you fancy. It simply means that you should continue to be vigilant and be prepared for the festivities. It’s also a great idea to incorporate some fresh vegetable juice early in the morning so keep away that sluggish feeling from eating holiday treats the day before.

On to some EASY tips…..

1. Exercise: Most people have a little extra time available over the holiday season when they are not at work. Take this opportunity to develop a regular exercise regime. This will help to burn off the excess calories and fat consumed over this period. It will also get you into the habit of exercising, and you can continue the regime after the holiday season is over.

2. Review your cooking methods: These days there is no excuse for not utilizing the many healthy ways in which food can be prepared. Instead of frying, grill your food. If you’re roasting, use one of the many available low-calorie spray oils. Try steaming vegetables to retain nutrients and flavor.

3. Invest in lower fat ingredients for cooking: If you’re preparing a big dinner, why not use half-fat ingredients whenever possible? It is often difficult to tell the difference where taste and flavor are concerned. You can even get low-calorie beers, wines and soft drinks. By simply swapping regular ingredients, foods and drinks for their half-fat alternatives you can make a big cut-back on fat and calorie consumption.

4. Eat regularly: If you are going to a big party or dinner, don’t starve yourself all day in anticipation. You’re in danger of arriving there feeling ravenous and eating everything in sight. Instead, have some low-fat, healthy snacks throughout the day. By doing this, you’ll be less likely to over-indulge whilst you are out.

5. Prepare for outings: If you have some big nights out and meals planned over the holiday season, try and compensate by having some healthy eating days leading up to the event. Many of us are only too keen to think that we may as well forget about healthy eating over the holidays. However, it should not be a case of forgetting about your diet, but simply managing it a little more carefully over the holidays.

6. Balance your meals out: Don’t be tempted to fill up your plate with purely rich, calorie-laden food. Instead, have a little of everything including fruit and vegetables. This way, you’ll still get to indulge as well as receive valuable nutrients and vitamins.

7. Be wary of sugary foods: Always remember that rich, sugary foods have a nasty habit of making us crave yet more rich and sugary foods. We’ve all been there…over-indulging in sweet or rich food…feeling bloated, sick, and making rash promises to never eat again…and, a couple of hours later, finding ourselves back in the kitchen, picking at leftovers. By ensuring that you practise healthy eating over the holidays, and throw in some form of regular exercise, you can expect to have more energy and fewer cravings.

8. Stock up on healthy snacks: When you go shopping, be sure to throw some healthy snacking items in to your trolley. Fill up on raw vegetables, such as carrots or celery, which can make a simple snack in times of temptation. Juicing is quick and easy way to take in what you need for the day

Want more?———–> Check out Juice Up Your Life!

9. Be aware of food allergies: It is quite possible that you may have an allergy or intolerance to a food, which you may not even be aware of. Because there is a mountain of food waiting around every corner during the holiday season, we sometimes find ourselves gorging on food that we don’t even know the ingredients of. Then we wonder why we’re feeling so ill the next morning! By having a food allergy test, you can identify any foods that you need to avoid during the holiday season in order to maintain your health and enjoy the festivities without suffering.

10. Moderate alcohol intake: Don’t forget that alcohol is fattening too. That innocent-looking glass of sparkly wine or that small bottle of beer may look as though it will do no harm. However, alcohol contains calories and lots of them. Try and control the amount of alcohol you consume over the holiday period and, in the same way as food, try not to over-indulge regularly. There are plenty of lower-calorie beers and wines available that can help, so opt for the healthier version whenever possible.

11. Be assertive: Don’t feel as though you have to say yes to everyone that offers you food and drink. If you are not hungry, then simply say so. Do not let yourself be bullied into eating something that you really don’t want.

12. Leave what you don’t want: Despite what your parents may have drummed into you as a child, don’t feel obliged to clear your plate. When you feel full, stop eating. Simple.

Here are some great Holiday tips to keep you sexy and knowing it! Share the love and info Fitlifers! If you have any questions or need some more tips feel free to leave a comment below peeps :)

With love , gratitude, and green juice..

QA Tuesday – Purpose

QA Tuesday – Purpose

Your work is to discover your purpose and then with all your heart to give yourself to it. – Buddha

Sitting on the airplane, feeling immense gratitude after a long weekend in Maui.

This weekend was the once a year AwesomenessFest. Have you heard of it?

Truly one of the best events I have ever been to. Imagine going to a giant family reunion where all your relatives are around your age and into everything that you are.

Self development

Health and wellness

Reading and Writing

And…. Let’s not leave out taking advantage of what life really has to give you.

1 year ago this month I started Fit Life TV.

Can you believe it? (1 year)

It’s amazing how much one can get done when living in purpose.

I never would have imagined having one of the most successful transformational coaching business in the country in the area of health and mindset.

Or…

Speaking at AwesomenessFest about what I truly love.

Or…

Having the Mind. Body. Business event in January with people like Lisa Nichols, Bill Phillips and many more awesome transformational experts.

Or…

Taking my personal health to a whole new level.

Back Flip

Or…

Writing a game changing book on Juicing and healing your body and mindset.

Having so MUCH more has happened because I decided to let go of “safety” and “comfort” and follow my dream.

People thought I was an idiot quitting my other companies with nothing as back up. I knew intuitively to find my way I had to let go of everything that was serving me.

People would say, “Drew…. You should keep your other companies and then work your “dream” job part time.”

I knew doing anything else other then my dream was a distraction.

We must all get to a place where we are living, breathing and working on our dream daily.

Let me tell you something… no matter what your dream is… there is always a way to make money doing it. Money will fall down on you like rain… when you tap into your true purpose. Almost like this picture. :-) Me...Pretending The Water Is Money...

Let’s you and I start getting more creative, shall we?

What does your dream job look like? Leave it in the comment box below. The more you can describe it the faster and more real it will become.

Much Love,

How many bites of food are you eating? New Technology Fights Fat…

How many bites of food are you eating? New Technology Fights Fat…

Ok, how crazy have we gotten if we really have to monitor how many bites we are eating people?

There is something we believe to be fundamental in any weight loss program and unfortunately it is NOT a watch that counts your bites. It’s called SELF DISCIPLINE. Get some. :) Regardless, for the person that needs to strap an odometer on their dome… this is for you.

Researchers have developed a way to fight obesity by helping people answer one fundamental question: How many bites of food are you eating?

By Heidi Heilbrunn, Greenville News

Armed with the right tool: The device counts bites by tracking your wrist movement.

The Bite Counter, a wristwatch-shaped device being marketed to weight-loss clinics and fitness professionals, uses technology developed by a Clemson University team for the military to track body movements in clearing buildings of insurgents in Iraq, says Adam Hoover, an electrical engineering professor who handled the technical aspects of the design.

It’s expected to be on the consumer market in about a year for about $100, he says.

Like a pedometer, it keeps count of a repetitive physical movement. But putting fork to mouth is more complex than walking. “A pedometer can’t tell what kind of motion you’re making. This tracks a very specific motion,” Hoover says.

The wrist rotation necessary to move a fork from plate to mouth turns out to be the critical motion in eating; the machine counts bites with 90% accuracy, he says.

It also counts bites taken without the use of a fork or spoon, such as eating an apple; the rotation of the wrist is the same whether eating with the hands or utensils, Hoover says.

Hoover and his co-inventor, psychologist Eric Muth, have found that one bite generally averages about 25 calories.

Muth says he eats about 80 bites a day — 20 each at breakfast and lunch and 40 at dinner. But the healthy number of bites can vary from one person to another, he adds. “The first thing is to make it obvious that they’re eating more than they think. If they know that, the behavior change will come a little easier.”

Still, he says, you have to want to change.

Marjorie Nolan, a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, who was not involved in the device’s development, says such a device could be helpful for some people. “This would be a good tool for someone who generally knows what is healthy and unhealthy but maybe has more of an issue with portion control,” she says.

Patrick O’Neil, director of the Weight Management Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, is just beginning a study to determine how effective the Bite Counter may be in aiding weight loss.

The data aren’t in yet, he says, but “any approach people take in what we call self-monitoring … usually helps people control their intake.”

Best Juicer For The Money

Best Juicer For The Money

Battle Against the Juicers

You may know the amazing benefits of juicing.  The versatile way of combing different vegetables and fruits to increase energy, build stronger bones and maintain an overall healthier lifestyle.  However, as a novice juicer you may be hesitant on exactly which juicer is best for you and exactly how much you should spend.

Remember no juicer is exactly the same however, it is always good to do some research before investing.  Though I am not partial to any juicer in particular my hope is just to motivate you to begin juicing in the first place! However, below I’ve outlined some popular brands of juicers so you have a guide as to where to begin and find out which fit is best for you.

If Time is an Issue…

After doing some research I found that if you are new to juicing with very limited time a centrifual juicer may be your best bet.  A typical brand is the Juice Fountain Elite which is very easy to clean and prep for most people.  The juice quality reviews seem to be very good.  The prices can vary however, this one in particular is about 399 dollars.  Though it may sound like a fortune in the beginning remember the amazing investment you will be making and the money you will truly save in the long run.

Optimizing Nutrients…

If you are very conscience about your health and optimizing the most out of the nutrients produced from the juicer then you may have to spend a little more to gain these results.  A great brand is the Green Star Juicer which claims to produce some of the best quality juice.  It may take a bit more time to clean however, the difference in quality is quite significant.

Though these two are on different spectrums you must also decide the exact type of juicer you want.  There are five common types of juicers out on the market…

  1. Citrus Juicer-Citrus fruits only
  2. Centrigual Juicer-Most Common
  3. Single Gear Masticating Juicer-Juices most kinds of fruits and veggies
  4. Twin Gear Triturating Juicer-Juices all kinds of fruits and veggies, keeping more of the enzymes in the juice undamaged.
  5. Wheatgrass Juicer-Normally just juices wheatgrass

Types of Juicers

Some great brands to consider…

After doing your research I came across some helpful tips.  If cleaning and time is your main consideration think about buying a Breville brand juicer.  It is sleek and contains a powerful motor which provides great juice in no time at all.  Breville also proves great warranties and helpful tips on their website.

Black and Decker is also a great brand to consider when looking at various citrus juicers.  It is not as expensive as the others and creates great citrus juices in seconds.

Best Juicer Reviews

In the end remember that there are many different types of juicers out there and we must do our research before investing.  They often range from 100-500 dollars however, the money you will save from buying in the grocery store will pay off exponentially!

So quit reading this and go out there and begin juicing!!

Comment below if you have any questions or need any other helpful tips when it comes to juicing or investing in a juicer!

Transformation Begins FitLife.TV

Transformation is a process where one moves from one form to the next.

You “shed” the old skin and become anew. Very few people have the ability to demonstrate this on command. They get stuck in the bad mental paradigms and constructs of, what if I try and fail? To transform we must see that in the failing you are over coming your learned behavior of not attempting and playing life the “safe” way.

It’s easy to stay where you are in life.

It’s hard to burn the ships and go for what you REALLY want? What do you really want in this life? Have you lost track of your dreams, goals and desires to play it safe?

In my humble opinion, if you are not playing to the edge, you are NOT playing at all. Check out FitLife.TV as they prepare to make their way across the country to help a transformation client in a 90 day challenge.

NEW E-BOOK JUICE UP YOUR LIFE REVEALS DELICIOUS JUICE CONCOCTIONS THAT HIDE INSIDE ALL FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 19, 2011) – Suffering from headaches? Sample the Red Devil. Want better digestive health? Try a glass of the Orange and Green Mohawk. Having trouble sleeping? See how the juices from spinach, celery, kale and lemon can help. Juices that take aim at improving everything from your sex drive to your cholesterol level, as well as better health in general, are now at available at your fingertips in a new e-Book titled Juice Up Your Life. The book marks the culmination of months of juicing trial-and-error by nutrition specialist, life motivator and author Drew Canole.

It’s no secret, fruits and vegetables are good for you. We’ve all heard that since grade school. But the powers of their juices is considerably less known, and the mystery of getting kids to enjoy the taste of broccoli, cauliflower or beets has eluded mankind for eons. Until now. The secret is out. Juice Up Your Life is loaded with one delicious sample drink after another, each accompanied by observations Canole offers from the research process. The book reveals better than 100 fruit- or vegetable-based juice recipes straight from the juicer of the master concoctor himself. The recipes are part of a book that addresses better-health habits in general, and is one of a series of e-publications offered by the web-based health and nutrition portal FitLife.tv.

"“My sincerest hope is that this book changes your life,” Canole writes in the introduction of Juice Up Your Life. “No matter what your overall health goal is, juicing has the potential to reshape not only your physical landscape but your internal workings as well.”"

— Drew Canole

For anybody already turned on to juicing, the book makes “blender guesswork” a thing of the past. For those new to juicing, the book shows how vegetables can become an easy, delicious part of your everday diet. For people in either camp, the book reveals such discoveries as this: two carrots, one broccoli floret, two handfuls of spinach, a half of a beet, and one lemon combine to deliver a delicious juice packed with energy-boosting punch. Canole calls that one the Energizer Bunny. Some people might call it disgusting, but they’d be surprised. Canole’s done his homework. The secret is out.
