7 Body Hacks
1. First thing in the AM. Take a cold shower. You’re probably thinking I’m crazy for bringing this up. It not only wakes you up immediately, thus letting you skip the coffee, but it also speeds up your metabolism. You feel like you conquered something first thing in the am… building up a rampage of motivation to get more stuff done.
2. Eat low-glycemic foods, like yogurt or an apple, before bedtime. This bedtime snack can combat morning fatigue and headaches from low blood sugar through the night. Adding 1-2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil to the bedtime snack can also help decrease fatigue and increase cel repair. I usually eat 3 brazil nuts before bed to boost my testosterone as well. Plus the saturated fat helps with REM sleep. This is the type of sleep you need for your body to repair effectively.
3. I’ve also been experimenting with an ice bath before bed and then a little bit of melatonin to really knock me out. You will feel like you’ve been hit with an elephant tranquilizer. (I learned this little tip from my friend Tim Ferris.) If you are into understanding your dreams like I am you could even add a little Kava with the melatonin. (Crazy Lucid Dreams.)
4. Get a metabolic type test or a full metabolic blood panel. See how your body processes different types of food. Many of my clients have a different metabolic type to the way they have been eating their whole lives… this can cause chaos inside your body and lots of inflammation in your cells, causing weight gain and a myriad of other health problems.

5. Juice! If you find yourself always hungry for no reason you could be starving from a nutrient perspective. Eating a diet high in macro foods leaves little room for micro foods… these are the foods your cells need the most to stay healthy and running effectively. If you give your cells what they need your body will begin to heal and eventually you will get in the best shape internally and externally. Health always starts within. 6. Learn to like nuts. Eating almonds in between each meal will keep your body from going into fat storing state and keep your metabolism running all day.
7. Heat it up: Eat spicy food. I love a diet high in red chili peppers and jalapeño. Research has shown that they raise your metabolism by 30-40 percent for up to 3 hours after eating them.
If I could offer up one piece of advice it would be: to start slowly. Start one of these things and do it for 2 weeks. IF you like the results move onto the next one, this will help you with the formation of a new habit and yield optimal results.

Even if you do not consider yourself to be health conscious, you have likely heard of the Master Cleanse.
Although the Master Cleanse has always been a popular way to detoxify the body, the award winning singer Beyonce brought it additional attention. Even though many claim the Master Cleanse is successful, it is important to understand the process before you get started.
The ingredients needed for the Master Cleanse include cayenne pepper, grade b maple syrup, water, fresh lemons, and senna tea. In terms of instructions, the best thing to do is to purchase a Master Cleanse guidebook. There are different guides and books available for sale. In addition to detailed instructions, you will be provided with other tips and tricks to help you on the cleanse.
Although the purchase of the Master Cleanse guide is recommended, a drink will consist of 2 tablespoons of lemon juice from a fresh lemon, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 8 ounces of water. It is important to use genuine grade b maple syrup, not artificial, and a fresh organic lemon, not the prepackaged lemon juice. Six to ten glasses of this concoction can be taken everyday.
In addition to the drink mix, which you will have multiple times throughout the day, senna tea is recommended at night. This tea will help to prepare your digestive system for the follow day. Many also do a salt-water flush each morning, also to help the process along. A salt-water flush will contain a small amount of salt, which should be natural sea salt.
The Master Cleanse, although classified as a whole body cleansing program, will work wonders for your colon and digestive track. For this reason, you will make multiple trips to the bathroom. You may want to start the cleanse on a weekend, giving you time to adjust before you return to work. Despite the possibility of a variance, many see almost immediate results following the morningís salt-water flush.
As for the length of the Master Cleanse, you will find some variances. Many start out with a 10-day cleanse; however, there are reports of people cleansing for a month or more. If this is your first cleanse, it is important to start out slow and small. Aim for the 10 days. With that said, some individuals cannot handle 10 days without solid foods. If you experience severe pain and discomfort, stop the cleanse. For many, it takes a couple of tries before they are able to achieve a full 10-day cleanse.
Speaking of pain and discomfort, you will likely experience it. Going even two days without the consumption of solid foods will result in moderate to severe hunger pains. These pains may be accompanied by dizziness and nausea. If you are a coffee or soda drinker, you may start to experience caffeine withdrawal. In addition to dizziness and vomiting, you may develop a severe headache. Many also report stomach cramps; however, those who deal with these craps, often report disappearance within a day or two.
Following the master cleanse, you may crave solid foods. Before you start eating everything you have craved for the past week, it is important to start out slow. Adding too many solid foods to your diet right away can have serious complications, including stomach pains and vomiting. You should start with all-natural juice, applesauce, and other easy to digest and sallow foods. There are a few different things you want to do to prepare for a cleanse.

Visualize the activity, event or result desired. Think “what you see is what you get” and be ready for creativity and mind synthesis to take the lead. If you want to build a solar powered train, visualize this train in your mind, with its solar panels, its gleaming exterior, traveling at a speed that you believe it would be capable of. Dream on it, work it through your mind and let it evolve in pictures.
Move your imagination into the real world. After you have spent a moment, day, month or even years visualizing the possibilities, now shift to focus mode. Right at the moment before you perform the activity, task or event that will achieve an outcome or even the outcome toward your goal, focus clearly on the picture of the action you are about to make. For example, if you are trying to hit a ball, picture hitting it clearly in your mind, stroke by stroke, at the right height and the right speed. Watch the ball being hit by your instrument, flying through the air and landing wherever it is meant to land. Add all senses to the experience, hear the approaching ball, hear and feel the impact, smell the grass. Then do it for real.
Fix your mindset. Nothing is going to get better when you feel lousy about yourself and your chances in life. A positive mindset will reset an erring period of bad luck. It will turn that half empty glass into the half full glass; the rainy day into the silver-lined cloud. Seize opportunities to change and move on.
Think long term. Anybody who wants change overnight will be disappointed. Even if you won a fortune in the morning, you’d be as dissatisfied with your life in 6 months time as you are now unless you look inside to what ails you. Instead, plan to make realization of your hopes and dreams long term. Visualize where you will be in 5, 10 and 15 years time and the sorts of outcomes you want. But don’t just make a shallow photo of you in a Porsche surrounded by a large house, massive diamond collection and fawning friends. That’s artificial and will not prove healthy nor satisfying in the long run. Instead, visualize what you want to achieve as a human being and what legacies you will leave your community and world.
Always remind yourself of the importance of slowing down. Visualization only works when you are calm, at ease and willing to give yourself time to focus in peace, free from immediate worries. Visualization is a technique very close to meditation, only it is more active and vivid. In visualization, you are encouraged to think actively about the possibilities but as with meditation, you must leave aside anything extraneous to your dreams and goals and only focus on them.
Visualize the personality traits needed to get you where you want to be. It’s not enough to want to be the president. You need to think about the qualities that will assist getting to this goal. Visualize not only the presidency but also the skills of open communication, persuasiveness, smiling, sharing, listening, discussing, being able to deflect criticism with skill and respect etc. It is likely there will be skills you need to work on but again, use visualization to focus on separate skills to bring them up to par.
Visualization takes practice. Everyone has the power to do but not everyone has the belief in it. If you are skeptical, you may want to convince yourself that this is a waste of time. Do not give into this temptation because everyone, skeptics included, can benefit from visualizing. It is about our brain’s ability to synthesize results, a scientifically proven fact.
Help others to visualize. One of the best gifts you can ever give is that of hope and visualizing is a part of hope for better things. Teach others how to do it once you have the confidence and you’ll be sharing around pieces of hope.
Don’t forget feelings. You have to be happy and grateful to use visualization correctly.

The vegetarian diet and the paleo diet both center around building a natural, healthy lifestyle. But each diet embraces a different definition of “natural and healthy.” Cultures throughout the world practice varying degrees of vegetarianism for moral, religious and health reasons. In contrast, the paleo diet, named for the paleolithic era, became popular during the past decade, though its dietary practices are millions of years old.
Always consult with your doctor before significantly changing your dietary practices. Founding principle in his book, “The Paleo Diet,” nutritionist Dr. Loren Cordain explains how the human body has changed little during the past several million years. Humans, he argues, were never meant to consume the highly processed and refined foods that dominate the modern diet.
The paleo diet claims to alleviate conditions ranging from heart disease to diabetes by following the dietary practices of paleolithic-era humans. Vegetarianism, however, focuses on excluding meat and, in some instances eggs, for a variety of reasons. Reasons for adopting a vegetarian diet range from the belief that killing animals for food is immoral to the belief that a vegetarian lifestyle is healthier and less damaging to the environment.
Food Restrictions
Two main types of vegetarianism exist. The first type, laco-ovo vegetarians, abstain from all meat products but still eat eggs and dairy products. Lacto-vegetarians abstain from all meat and eggs but still consume dairy products. By contrast, the paleo diet prohibits any beans, grain, dairy or refined sugars, because these foods were unavailable during the paleolithic era. Nuts, lean, organic meats, fresh fruit and non-starchy vegetables form the basis of the paleo diet. Processed meats such as bologna or salami also are prohibited.
Weight Loss
You can lose weight on both the vegetarian or paleo diet, although neither diet touts weight loss as its goal or focus. A 2011 British study in “Diabetic Medicine” found that after 24 weeks, subjects eating a controlled vegetarian diet lost more fat than subjects eating a controlled, reduced-calorie diabetic diet. Similarly, a 2008 study published in the “European Journal of Clinical Nutrition” found that subjects lost an average of five pounds after eating a paleo diet for three weeks.
Nutritional Gaps
Any diet that excludes entire food groups requires thoughtful planning to avoid nutritional deficiencies. According to MedlinePlus.com, vegetarians must focus on eating sufficient amounts of protein, iron and B vitamins to compensate for the lack of meat in their diets. Conversely, because the paleo diet prohibits all dairy products, preventing calcium deficiency requires increasing your consumption of iron-rich vegetables and nuts.
Fat loss is a major priority for people who start an exercise program. An exercise and wellness program that combines aerobic exercise, strength training and diet modifications is the best way to reduce your body fat percentage. Your choice of fat-burning exercise will depend on your time, budget and physical limitations, as well as your physical location. Since you need to burn 3,500 calories to lose 1 lb. of fat, choose wisely. Cross-training with different exercises will prevent overuse injuries.
ACSM Guidelines for Aerobic Activity
In 1995, the American College of Sports Medicine listed its exercise guidelines, which included 30 minutes of moderately intense aerobic activity, performed 5 days a week, or 20 minutes of intense aerobic activity, three times a week. However, for weight loss, they suggested 60 to 90 minutes of aerobic exercise. In 2007, the guidelines were revised. The ACSM now recommends that aerobic activity be performed on most days of the week.
Runing and Jogging
Running and jogging are the most effective fat-burning exercises. Depending on your weight and your running speed, you can burn between 9.3 and 17 calories a minute. Running uphill may increase energy expenditure. However, since running is a high-impact activity, you may need to cross train with activities such as cycling or walking. If a swimming pool is available, you can practice deep-water pool running on your off days.
Winter Sports
While many people avoid cold weather exercise, studies performed at the University of Toronto have shown that exercising in the cold can increase fat-burning metabolism. Depending on you body weight and exercise intensity, activities such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing can burn between 382 and 476 calories an hour.
Upper/Lower Body Elliptical Machines
A study performed at the School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Science at Ball State University explored the energy expenditure of different indoor aerobic machines. The researchers found that the Body Trec, which is an upper/lower body elliptical machine had the highest rate of energy expenditure. Additionally, elliptical machines tend to have a lower rate of perceived exertion, which means that people will stay on for a longer duration, and will work at a higher intensity level.
Resistance Training
A study performed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham indicated that women participating in 25 weeks of resistance training can reduce their body fat. The researchers put 26 men and women on a three-times-per-week strength-training program. The subjects lost an average of 4.4 lbs. of total body fat. The female participants lost 15 cubic centimeters of belly fat.
Since resistance training can rev up metabolic rate, it is an efficient fat-burning activity. Additionally, resistance training strengthens the muscle needed to safely perform aerobic activities. It also has some psychological benefits. Since strength training is a form of body sculpting, it promotes a sense of pride in the body’s appearance. As a result, participating in a body sculpting program might make you less likely to eat high-fat junk foods.
-Use ½ cup of oats and place them in a bowl. Use 1 cup of spring water to soak them over night
-wake up and drain the oats from water. I love to add un-sweetened coconut milk or almond milk. I also add a small amount of fruit and loads of cinnamon.

The most effective vegetables that should be juiced when trying to lose weight are nutrient-dense vegetables. The top five nutrient-dense vegetables are bell peppers, parsley, kale, broccoli and spinach.
Bell peppers are one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables that you will find, also they are packed with vitamin C. One thing to remember when purchasing bell peppers is that organic is the way to go!
Red bell peppers have higher levels of nutrients compared to green bell peppers.
According to research, bell peppers contain substances that have been shown to prevent blood clot formation which reduces chances of heart attack and stroke.

“Missouri Women Gains 10 Pounds On So Called Fat Burners!”
Fat burning pills have inundated the market in the last ten years, mainly because of people’s obsession with the so-called Perfect 10 figure and the increased incidence of obesity. The busy way of life that most people lead in the 21st century has also prevented a big number of the population from following a strict diet and exercise program.
So in comes the fat burning pill.
But is it effective? Is it safe?
We’ve broken down some of the important facts that you need to know about these fat burning medications to help you make an intelligent decision on whether to use them or not.

Potential adverse effects:
Some of these pills have been known to cause adverse health effects that can even be life-threatening. Some of the documented negative effects include heart valve damage, high blood pressure, insomnia, addiction, anxiety, lack of energy, palpitations, steatorrhea or oily bowels, stomach pain and flatulence. (ew…not too sexy folks)
Do these pills work?
According to some who have tried these medications, they do help burn fat and reduce weight. However, their positive effects are counterbalanced by the many side effects that one can get from using these pills. If you are tempted to try one of these, a consultation with a doctor is the first thing you should do, particularly if you have an existing health problem.
Fat burning pills are the commercial market’s answer to people who like to achieve their desired weight without too much effort and within a short period of time. However, the dangers associated with these drugs might not be worth the amount of weight you will lose. We recommend that you stick with the true and tested ways of losing weight – proper diet, exercise and healthy living.
